DUNE / KATIE CAJIGAS

I take this beating heart out and place it on the ground next to me.

I won’t need it anymore.

Please, take away my ability to feel,

This cavernous pain in the hollow of me.

Pulsating. Ringing out. Exacerbated.

Am I a mountain?

No, a dune, gritty and eroding

with gusts of swift wind pushing me left and right.

Please, hold me still. Gently.
Erase my memory and make me brand new.

I want to be reborn from all this.

Please, take the pain and let it fly away in the wind.
